Affiliate Programme Terms
Terms version: 2026-08-30-v2 · Last updated 30 August 2026
These terms govern participation in the MODE affiliate programme. By applying and accepting the programme terms, you agree to follow them while promoting MODE.
Important: These programme terms are designed to explain the commercial rules clearly. MODE may update them as the programme develops. Where a material update requires renewed acceptance, MODE can ask an existing partner to accept the new version before further participation.
1. Who can participate
Applications are reviewed by MODE. Approval is not automatic. MODE may approve, decline, pause or end a partnership where reasonably necessary to protect customers, the brand, the programme or legal compliance.
2. Referral links and attribution
Approved partners receive a unique referral link or code. A public creator/channel alias may point to MODE's separate secure internal referral code. Changing the public alias does not rewrite historic attribution or locked customer rates. MODE may keep an older public alias redirecting to the same secure partner identity so previously published links continue to work. A referral must be genuinely attributable to that partner under the attribution rules shown in the partner dashboard. Self-referrals, fabricated accounts, manipulated tracking, duplicate identities and other artificial activity do not qualify.
3. Commission tiers
The standard automatic tier model is:
MODE may agree a bespoke partner rate up to 40%. Bespoke rates are not automatic and must be confirmed by MODE.
4. Locked customer rates
When a new qualifying paying customer is first locked to an affiliate, the commission percentage in force for that new customer is stored against that customer relationship. Future qualifying payments from that customer use that locked percentage for the remainder of the eligible commission period.
If an affiliate later falls below a tier threshold, previously locked customers are not retrospectively reduced. Only new qualifying customer relationships use the affiliate's current new-customer rate. If the affiliate rises again, new customer relationships can again use the higher rate.
5. What counts as an active paying referral
An active paying referral is a genuine customer attributed to the partner whose qualifying paid MODE entitlement is still active. Customers cancelled or ended no longer count toward the active total. A short payment-issue grace period may apply so temporary payment failures do not create unstable day-to-day tier changes.
6. When commission is earned
Commission is earned on qualifying net revenue from payments actually received by MODE. Qualifying net revenue means the customer payment after VAT or other transaction taxes shown on that payment, and after any refund, reversal or chargeback adjustment. MODE does not calculate affiliate commission on tax collected for a tax authority. A monthly customer creates commission as each qualifying monthly payment clears. Commission is not paid upfront for future subscription months that have not been paid.
A Founder or other fixed-term customer who pays once creates one commission on that qualifying purchase. A Founder Family customer may count as an active referral during the paid two-year Founder entitlement even though there are no further monthly commission payments.
7. Refunds, disputes and fraud
Commission may be held, reduced or reversed when the related customer payment is refunded, disputed, charged back, fraudulent, duplicated, self-referred, manipulated or otherwise not a valid qualifying payment. MODE may investigate unusual referral or conversion patterns before releasing money.
8. Affiliate tax and VAT
Partners are responsible for their own income-tax and registration obligations. Where a partner is VAT registered, MODE may record the partner legal name, VAT number, applicable VAT rate and self-billing status. Any VAT due on the affiliate marketing service is recorded separately from the underlying commission so MODE can keep a clear accounting trail.
MODE may use a self-billing process where permitted and agreed. A partner must keep their tax information accurate and tell MODE if their VAT status changes.
9. Payouts
Commission may pass through pending, hold, approved and paid stages. The current minimum payout and hold period are shown in the partner dashboard. Preparing a payout does not itself guarantee that money has moved. Payment is made only through the payout route approved by MODE.
10. Advertising disclosure
Affiliate promotions must be clearly identifiable as advertising or affiliate content where required by applicable advertising rules. Partners must not hide the commercial relationship or make misleading claims about MODE, its features, prices, results or availability.
11. Prohibited promotion
- No spam, unsolicited bulk messaging or deceptive traffic.
- No impersonation of MODE or misleading domains/accounts.
- No unauthorised bidding on protected MODE brand terms.
- No false scarcity, fake reviews, fabricated testimonials or unsupported claims.
- No cookie stuffing, forced clicks, referral manipulation or artificial customer creation.
- No promotion in a way that breaks platform rules, consumer law, privacy law or advertising standards.
12. Customer privacy
The affiliate dashboard is deliberately privacy-safe. Partners may see a non-identifying customer reference, plan type, locked rate, dates and commission status, but not private planner contents, household information, medical information, customer notes or other unnecessary personal data.
13. Records and reporting
MODE keeps payment, qualifying net revenue, commission, tax/VAT and payout records for programme administration and its own accounting. Partners may be asked for information reasonably needed to prepare lawful payouts or self-billing records. Each partner remains responsible for keeping any records required for their own tax affairs.
14. Suspension and termination
MODE may pause new attribution, place commissions on hold, end a partner relationship or reverse invalid unpaid commission where programme rules are breached or where required for legal, fraud, payment or brand-protection reasons. Legitimately earned and already paid commission is not retrospectively reduced merely because an affiliate later moves to a lower performance tier.
15. Changes to the programme
MODE may adjust future tier thresholds, rates, payout processes, attribution rules or programme features. Changes do not retrospectively rewrite commission already earned. Material changes affecting continuing participation may require acceptance of an updated terms version.
16. Governing terms
These Affiliate Programme Terms operate alongside the legal notices, privacy information and customer terms published by the operator of modeplanners.com. If a bespoke written affiliate agreement is agreed with MODE, that bespoke agreement takes priority where it expressly differs from these standard programme terms.
